Deschutes Fly Tying Mat

A tying mat inspired by one of the great rivers of the American West.

Handcrafted in our Montreal workshop from rich full-grain Buffalo leather, the Deschutes Tying Mat is built for fly tyers who appreciate heritage materials and thoughtful design. Each mat is carefully cut and finished by hand creating a workspace that develops more character with every season at the vise.

Made for the Tying Bench

The Deschutes Tying Mat provides a soft yet durable surface that protects your desk while creating a dedicated space for tying flies. The leather surface keeps tools and materials comfortably in place and adds a sense of permanence to the tying bench.

A detailed map of the Deschutes River is engraved into the leather alongside a salmon hook chart. Both serve as practical references while tying and as a quiet tribute to one of the most storied trout and steelhead rivers in North America.

Buffalo Leather

Buffalo leather is valued for its strength, texture and natural character. With time and use the surface develops a deep patina shaped by the flies tied upon it.

Like all Timber&Fins pieces each mat is handcrafted in small quantities in our Montreal workshop using traditional leatherworking techniques.
