After years on the water, you start to notice what works and what doesn’t.
A good fly wallet is not just about holding flies. It’s about how it feels in your hands, how it performs in real conditions, and how it holds up over time.
If you are looking for the best fly wallet, it always comes down to the same thing. Quality materials and thoughtful design.

Why Materials Matter in a Fly Wallet
One of the biggest differences is the shearling. We use bark-tanned sheep shearling, which is very different from what you’ll usually find. Most shearling today is processed in a way that almost feels plastic. It doesn’t breathe and it doesn’t handle moisture well.
Ours does.
It allows humidity to move through the material, which means your flies can dry properly after a day on the water. That helps prevent rust on your hooks and keeps your flies in better condition over time.
It also holds flies differently.
Not like Velcro. Not like synthetic fur.
The shearling grips your flies securely while still letting you pull them out easily when you need them. No fighting with your gear. No damaging delicate patterns.

Leather matters just as much.
We don’t use corrected or synthetic leathers that crack and fall apart after a season or two. We use full grain leather. The kind that can handle years on the water and still keep going. The kind that develops character with every trip.
Marks and wear are not flaws. They are part of how the leather ages and tells its story.
Every leather fly wallet we make is sewn and finished by hand in our Montreal workshop using leathers chosen for that exact reason.

Fit and Function on the Water
A fly wallet should fit where you naturally reach for it. In a coat pocket. In your waders. In your vest. It should be there when you need it without getting in the way.
Nothing oversized. Nothing complicated.
Just something that works.
After years of using fly wallets and making our own, that’s what we keep coming back to.
