Margaree Fly Tying Mat

A tying mat inspired by one of Atlantic Canada’s great salmon rivers.

Handcrafted in our Montreal workshop from rich full-grain Buffalo leather, the Margaree Fly Mat is designed for fly tyers who appreciate heritage materials and thoughtful craftsmanship. Each mat is carefully cut and finished by hand creating a workspace that develops more character with every fly tied.

Made for the Tying Bench

The Margaree Fly Tying Mat provides a soft yet durable surface that protects your workbench while creating a dedicated space for tying flies. The leather surface keeps tools and materials comfortably in place while bringing a sense of permanence to the tying bench.

An engraved map of the Margaree River anchors the design alongside classic salmon hook charts. Both serve as practical references while tying and as quiet tributes to one of Atlantic Canada’s most storied salmon rivers.

Buffalo Leather

Buffalo leather is valued for its strength, texture and natural character. With time and use the surface develops a deep patina shaped by the flies tied upon it.

Like all Timber&Fins pieces each mat is handcrafted in small quantities in our Montreal workshop using traditional leatherworking techniques.
